Road to Canta

There are really just two seasons in Lima: summer, which takes place in full color; and winter, which happens in black and white.

The best way to survive the Lima winter is to escape from time to time and find some sun. Recently, we took to the hills to get out of the Lima gray. We headed a little north and east and took the road to Canta, a town about 3 hours from here.

Leaving Lima:
It gets greener as you leave the city limits - and the you start to see less gray and more blue sky...
We stopped at Checta, where we hiked up the hill to see petroglyphs that are several thousand years old. The terrain was very similar to petroglyph parks in NM and AZ.
Then we followed the river valley, forged some streams, and found a lovely place for a picnic

The countryside near Canta is quite beautiful
Though the town itself is not as pretty

Paris

Following her workshop in Rome, Valerie took a few extra days and went to Paris. It was springtime, and very lovely.
