Huanchaca

Huanchaca is a charming little beach/fishing village just north of Trujillo. It is famous for it's reed boats, woven as they have been for time immemorial by local fisherman. Each fisherman has two boats evidently - one for the morning and one for the afternoon. The boats only last a few months. The locals either kneel or sit on them. Tourists can rent the boats by the hour - something to do next time.

Huanchaca is also a favorite hang-out for serious surfers. The waves are good apparently, as is the low-key atmosphere and countless numbers of fish restaurants along the water.

I couldn't catch the balloon vendor quickly enough to buy a souvenir balloon, but did catch a photo.
